Introduction

I have signed up to learn Frisian, a language spoken in the Friesland province of the Netherlands, and is the closest relative of the English language. It's a course offered by the University of Groningen on FutureLearn. The course will go for three weeks, and will take me up to lower beginner's level upon completion.

I have signed up because English is my first language, despite being Korean, and I am very curious and interested in the Germanic languages, especially Old English and closely related languages like Old Norse and its descendants, and Frisian. By learning Frisian, I am embracing my linguistic heritage, so to speak. I find myself quite excited for this, moreso than I was for Old English and German and Danish honestly.

The course will start on September 26, and this blog is made to document my progress through the course, and perhaps hopefully through future courses for Frisian. I may jot it all down on a notebook too.
